Introduction to the Course Builder

Course Outline

Hierarchies

The Course Outline is similar to a Table of Contents for your course. Add lessons, sections, and quizzes to layout your course. Let’s look at the hierarchy of terms and define them.

  • Course Outline – (similar to a table of contents, where your live lessons and content are organized)
    • Lessons – (Lessons are a grouping of Sections)
      • Sections – (Create dynamic content using the Course Builder and Block Editor)
        • Content Blocks
    • Quizzes – (Assessments can be either graded quizzes or forms)

Creating your first course

Now that you have seen what a course looks like as a student, lets make our own. From the home page, or under the “Courses” tab > click “+ Add New Course”.

Create your first group

SkillSuite lets you organize your entire organization and its learners within groups. Groups can be nested with parent/ child relationships and custom tags. These groups help you visually manage users as well as automate many of the common functions like course enrollments and reporting.

Easily add an edit groups at any time. Any users added at that group can be limited to permissions within that group and their individual user’s role. For example, if I add an Admin User to a group that is 3 levels removed from the top, they will not have access to any group or users above or to the side of their group. They will be able to have admin controls to all users and groups within and below their own group. This gives you the opportunity to keep sensitive information private and for the right people only, while still allowing your team to do their job at their level.

Adding a group is simple and fast
Nested groups offer organizational hierarchy and customization

Add your first user

Users are easy to add in SkillSuite. For enterprise accounts, you can integrate and sync with your HR software to add users and remove them. Easily control access and permissions using User Roles. Each user can have one type of user role.

Add a single user:

Add users manually with the + Create new User button.

Add Multiple Users:

If you want to add multiple users at a time, you can upload a CSV file. These bulk adds are done using the “Bulk Create Users” button.
